Vacation Rental Permit Required
Copperopolis, CA — Complaints about noise, overcrowding and safety concerns related to vacation homes being rented out to visitors has been a hot button issue. In a 3 to 2 vote the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors approved an administrative use permit program which would require property owners to have a permit in order to rent out homes. Board Chairwoman Merita Callaway and District One Supervisor Cliff Edson voted against the ordinance.
Interim County Administrator John Blacklock says the board had several concerns. In the end, the new ordinance just affects the Lake Tulloch area. Blacklock says they don’t have an exact cost of the permit yet, but it will be under $1000 with a $200 dollar yearly renewal fee.
